Upcoming Labor Day Weekend Festivals: September 2-6, 2021

Over 80 festivals in Ohio and nearly 300 in all states this weekend!

With kids back in school and families more homebound after summer traveling, festivals really take off until the cooler weather gets hold of the north (and that’s when the southern state festivals will start to take off). For states like Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and New York, September is a huge festival month filled with apple festivals, oktoberfests, farm fests and so much more. This is also a month where you can really take advantage of my Festival Reviews because I’ve gone to quite a few September festivals – 20 this Labor Day Weekend and plenty more in upcoming weekends.

This weekend, there are over 80 festivals going on in Ohio, including some festivals I truly love like the Fair at New Boston (Springfield), the Ohio Renaissance Festival (Waynesville), the Perch, Peach, Pierogi and Polka Festival (Port Clinton), the Sweet Corn Festival (Millersport), Old Hilliardfest (Hillard), the Cleveland Oktoberfest (now over three weekends), and the Milan Melon Festival. There are also plenty I would love to check out, including the Columbus Caribbean Festival and the Cincinnati Hispanic Fest.

Be sure to look to the map to see where festivals are going on, keeping in mind they may be nearby in a neighboring state as well.

Speaking of other states, please double-check any festival taking place in an area affected by recent weather. Bonnaroo, for example, was recently canceled because of all the rain received. While I try to do my best to keep up on things, I’m sure there are changes I don’t know about in time.

Here are some festivals I would check out in the other states:

Florida (12 Fest): Florida Scallop, Music and Arts Festival (St. Joe), Cuban Sandwich Festival (Tampa)

Georgia (12 Fests): A Taste of the Mountains (Blairsville)

Illinois (38 Fests): Roscoe Village Burger Fest (Chicago), Nauvoo Grape Festival

Indiana (26 Fests): Ligonier Marshmallow Festival, Abbey Road on the River (Jeffersonville)

Kentucky (16 Fests): Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival (Winchester)

Michigan (30 Fests): Muskegon Polish Festival, Michigan Renaissance Festival (Holly)

New York (15 Fests): National Buffalo Wing Fest, St. Rocco’s Italian Festival (Holley)

Pennsylvania (18 Fests): Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival (West Newton), Beers of the Burgh Festival (Pittsburgh)

Tennessee (13 Fests): Tennessee Soybean Festival (Martin), Muddy Roots Music Festival (Cookeville)

West Virginia (12 Fests): Fort Henry Days (Wheeling), Jane Lew Fireman’s Arts and Crafts

Wisconsin (22 Fests): Summerfest (Milwaukee), Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw and Festival (Prairie du Sac)

All these festivals and more are listed below with a wonderful map to help you see where the festivals are happening.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Love, Peace and Funnel Cake Grease!
