Another weekend of 200+ Festivals, festival fans!
It’s another weekend filled with festivals, particularly in the northern states. States like Ohio (51), Illinois (20), Indiana (31), Michigan (22), and Wisconsin (25) carry the bulk of this weekend’s festivals, but that’s not to say that there aren’t some great festivals in the other states.
What’s awesome is that we are full in festival season now. In a week or so, there will be an explosion of 4th of July festivals (see what I did there?) and then we’ll get into corn festivals and blueberries festivals and eventually Oktoberfests and it will just keep going on. And, since I now also list Florida and Georgia festivals, they don’t need to stop. The southern states will carry us into the winter.
I’m a genius!
Okay, let me take a short breath and relax a bit. Let’s talk about this weekend in Ohio…
You should notice that I’ve been to a fair amount of this weekend’s Ohio festivals, including the London Strawberry Festival, the Maria Stein Country Fest and Pyrate Fest. I really recommend these three festivals for different reasons (see my reviews in the links below). I’m saddened that ComFest (Columbus) and Love Fest (Chardon) are virtual but I’m sure they will be back next year.
Some festivals that I haven’t been to but have heard great things about include the Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival (Centerburg), Crosby Festival of the Arts (Toledo), and Ohio Viking Festival (Cortland). I also wouldn’t mind checking out the Dean Martin Hometown Celebration in Steubenville.
In the other states, there are also some interesting events going on…
Florida: Festivals are all about mangos and watermelon. Yum!
Georgia: The Miners Homecoming Celebration in Ducktown looks interesting.
Illinois: While there is a lot to choose from in Illnois, the Swedish Days fest in Geneva is really appealing to me.
Indiana: There’s a Mermaid Festival, a James Dean inspired Spring Run, and a fish fry.
Kentucky: Festival of the Red refers to the Red River Gorge (not redheads) and it looks like a cool music festival.
Michigan: A lot of food fests: Polish food, pizza, strawberries, ribs, etc.
New York: There’s a cherry fest at a winery (double trouble) and a Faerie Fest.
Pennsylvania: A groundhog festival, a night market in Pittsburg and a snake hunt!
Tennessee: Tons of music festivals, including some Bluegrass.
West Virginia: BIGFOOT! What more could you want?
Wisconsin: Muskies, cheese curds and music festivals, oh my!
