2023 DATE: June 22-24, 2023
This post documents my experience on June 24, 2017.
Mere hours after eating turtle soup, I arrived in downtown London for the Strawberry Festival…
…and came across a tortoise heading straight for me.
Fortunately, he was only there to make friends with some festival princesses (whew!).
As the princess headed to the main stage to introduce themselves…
…I walked along South Main Street to check out the festival.
Vendors lined both sides of the street…
…selling everything from chainsawed carvings…

…to car and truck decals and miscellaneous discounted items.
For the kids, the festival offered a carnival down a side street…
…complete with rides and games…
…as well as pony rides…
…bounce houses…

…and two face painters.
Sports fans could meet Pete Johnson (Stynchula Foundation)…
…motorcyclists could learn about Jesus (Christian Motorcyclists)…
…music lovers could dance to the beat…
…and thirsty adults could get a cold one…
…but most of us were here for the strawberry food!
The trick about doing this at the festival…
…was that you had to be very attentive.
You could easily pass the Cajun truck…
…without noticing the strawberry cream pie sign…
…or a funnel cake booth…
…featuring strawberry topping.
If you could train your eye to look for the small pink sheet, it wasn’t a problem…
…but it was a little too easy to miss.
At least the strawberry shortcake booth was a rather obvious choice…
…and kudos to Crossroads Community Church for getting those banners to advertise the tempting strawberry pizza!
