Over 70 Festivals celebrate Juneteenth, Pride, Duct Tape, Washboard Music, Dean Martin, Strawberries, Testicles and more.
It’s time for more festivals, Ohio, and – once again – there are over 70 festivals this weekend!
What likely helps this number is that it’s a double holiday weekend.
Juneteenth, which is officially June 19th, is mostly celebrated this weekend with all sorts of special events and celebrations. In regards to festivals (music, food, vendors), there are 11 festivals I know about in Ohio (Columbus, Oberlin, Athens, Steubenville, etc.). This is a huge increase from years ago, when I knew of about 3-4 Juneteenth Festivals in Ohio.
The other holiday, of course, is Father’s Day. And, while there isn’t specifically a Father’s Day Festival, there are certain festivals that always take place on Father’s Day Weekend, including the Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival (Review), Vermilion’s Festival of the Fish (Review), Celtic Fest Ohio (Review), and the Simply Slavic Heritage Festival (Review).
I definitely recommend all of those festivals!
Many other great festivals are also going on this weekend, such as the Washboard Music Festival (Logan – Review), Tusculum Street Fest (Cincinnati), Zane’s Trace Commemoration (Zanesville), Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival (Gahanna), Rockford Community Days, the Wine and Arts Festival (Grove City – Review), and the Holland Strawberry Festival.
As it is Pride Month, here are three pride festivals going on about this weekend: the Pride in the Valley Festival in Warren, the New Richmond Pride Festival, and the Stonewall Pride Festival (Review), which is a pretty big one.
And still there are more, including a rather interesting festival in Tiro, Ohio, called the Testicle Festival (Review). This biker friendly springtime festival offers live music, cold beer, and fried up animal testicles to be enjoyed by all. As the T-Shirt states, “You’ll Have a Ball!”
