Upcoming Weekend Festivals: July 29 – August 1, 2021

County Fairs, Cultural Fests, Summer Celebrations and more, festival fans!

This weekend, Ohio takes a temporarily dip in numbers, going down to 38 festivals and fairs after last week’s 60 celebrations. It is definitely temporary as things will pick back up next week and continue with large numbers through mid-October.

In terms of the what you can be enjoying this weekend, there will be plenty of county fairs (Seneca, Lake Summit, Clark, Knox, Union Counties to name a few), Polish food/celebrations in Toledo and Dayton, Hungarian carry out in Lorain, an Oktoberfest in Eastlake, a Beerfest at Progressive Field in Cleveland, and Summer festivals in Grafton, North Baltimore and Shandon. Also, I should note the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival in Canton is taking place, not to mention the popular Northwest Ohio Rib-Off in Maumee.

So some great stuff going on!

Also, just across the Ohio River, Newport (KY) will be celebrating Goettafest for two weekends…in fact, I just heard that the festival has spread to a second city, Covington, to where you can travel back and forth by riverboat! If you’ve never had goetta, or if you’re interested in visiting the festival, you should really check out my review of the event at https://ohiofestivals.net/goettafest/ where you can see some of the decadent Goetta dishes…

…like these goetta and cheese topped potatoes.

Some notable festivals in other states include the Geranium Festival in McDonough, Georgia, the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois, the well-known Lollapalooza in Chicago, the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival in Michigan, and Hot Dog festivals in both Frankfort, Indiana and Huntington, West Virginia.

Here are some of my festival suggestions for each of the states this weekend:

Florida (1 Fest): Florida Vegan Gourmet Food Festival (Tampa)

Georgia (4 Fests): Geranium Festival (McDonough)

Illinois (15 Fests): Superman Celebration (Metropolis)

Indiana (17 Fests): Darlington Fish Fry and Festival, Swiss Days (Berne)

Kentucky (9 Fests): Glier’s Goettafest (Newport and Covington), Cruisin’ the Heartland (Elizabethtown)

Michigan (24 Fests): Blueberry Festival (Marquette), Niles Cannabis and Music Festival (Niles)

New York (13 Fests): Springville Fiddlers Green Country and Bluegrass Festival

Pennsylvania (14 Fests): Rain Day Festival (Waynesburg)

Tennessee (6 Fests): Swiss Heritage Festival (Gruetli-Laager), St. Patrick’s Irish Picnic (McEwen)

West Virginia (8 Fests): Grecian Fest (Wheeling), The West Virginia Hot Dog Festival (Huntington)

Wisconsin (32 Fests): Elkhorn Corn and Brat Days, Scandinavia Corn Roast (Scandinavia)

All these festivals and more are listed below with a wonderful map to help you see where the festivals are happening.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Love, Peace and Funnel Cake Grease!
