The Ohio Renaissance Festival, Fair at New Boston, the Cleveland Oktoberfest, the Milan Melon Festival and so many more!
Festival Season is about to get real, Ohio!
September is the biggest festival month in the state and it is starting strong with Labor Day Weekend.
There are many classic, traditional festivals to consider this weekend.
For example, the Ohio Renaissance Festival (Review) is starting up this weekend in Waynesville and it will be running for many weekends to come. If you love Renaissance and Medieval Festivals, you should really come by and expect to spend the day as there is plenty to do. So many shows and entertainment, interesting vendors, and delicious food. It’s also a great festival to people watch as the costumes are wonderful (you should consider dressing up yourself).
Another great festival is the Fair at New Boston (Review) in Springfield. This is slightly more modern than the Renaissance Festival, as it’s set between 1790-1810. Vendors, food and entertainment are pretty much kept in this period, so it more historical in nature, but it is also fun and great for families and history enthusiasts.
If you’re more of a foodie, there are plenty of festival options throughout the state, including the West Jefferson Ox Roast (Review), the Obetz Zucchinifest (Review), the Akron Pizza Festival, the Perch, Peach, Pierogi and Polka Festival (Review) in Port Clinton and the Milan Melon Festival (Review). The Melon Festival, in fact, has special muskmelon and watermelon ice cream made exclusively by Tofts for this event, so don’t miss it!
More food options come by way of Cultural Festivals, such as the Cleveland Oktoberfest (Review), the Columbus Greek Festival (Review), the Hungarian Festival (Review) and the St. Rocco Festival (Review) in Cleveland, where you shouldn’t miss the climbing of the grease pole.
