Pumpkins, Grapes, Pretzels, Apples and Mums make this an incredible Fall Festival Weekend in Ohio
It’s another fantastic festival weekend in Ohio with over 90 festivals throughout the state.
But, honestly, even if you live along the Ohio borders, there are festivals nearby in the neighboring states as well! Look to the map below and see what’s around you. In Ohio, as you may have guessed, the festivals are all about Fall. Some are called Fall Festivals while others are called Harvest Festivals and still others have autumnal themes, such as Pumpkins, Mums, Grapes, Apples and Pretzels (connected with Oktoberfests, which are going on as well). There are also historic festivals like Prairie Days (Review) in Greenville and Frontier Spirit 1799 in Lancaster, shopping festivals set in the past like the Prairie Peddler (Review) in Butler and the Yankee Peddler (Review) in Canal Fulton and so much more.
Last year, I was able to visit three of this weekend’s festivals: the Luckey Fall Festival (Review), the Roche de Boeuf Festival (Review) in Waterville and the Findlay Oktoberfest (Review). All three are great!
Some other festivals I like include the Dayton Art Institute’s Oktoberfest (Review) for the art vendors, the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival (Review) for their giant pumpkins and pumpkin uses, the Jackson Apple Festival (Review) for the various apple products you can eat, the Barberton Mum Fest (Review) for their mum decor and waterski shows, and the Geneva Grape Jamboree (Review) for the grape ice cream (sometimes the grape pie – depends on the year).
The Lebanon Country Applefest (Review) is also quite impressive with over 300 vendors, but I went when it took place downtown. Now it’s at the county fairgrounds, so I’m going back this year to update my experience.
Now, let’s take a closer look at what’s going on in each part of the state:
Northwest Ohio:
I really like both the Luckey Fall Festival and the Roche de Boeuf Festival in Waterville Plus there’s Ribfest in Defiance, a Mum Festival in Tipp City, a Pumpkinfest in New Bremen, Prairie Days in Greenville, and two festivals in Van Wert – a Bluegrass Festival and a Harvest Moon Festival.
Northeast Ohio:
Near Youngstown, there are the Lordstown Apple Cider Festival and another festival weekend at White House Fruit Farm (blueberry donuts!!). Many festivals can be found around Cleveland and Akron, including the Barberton Mum Festival, the Ingenuityfest (Review) in Cleveland, Main Street Kent Oktoberfest, and the Yankee Peddler in Canal Fulton.
Central Ohio:
It’s CoffeeFest time in Columbus, not to mention the Festival for Good. There’s also Frontier Spirit 1799 in Lancaster, the Simon Kenton Chili Festival of Urbana and Pickerington Oktoberfest.
Southwest Ohio:
Oktoberfests in Cincinnati, Loveland, and Dayton with a Pretzel Festival (Review) in Germantown.
Southeast Ohio:
This weekend’s festivals include a the Pomeroy Sternwheel Riverfest (Review), the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, the Jack Pine Glass Pumpkin Festival in Laurelville, the Jackson Apple Festival, and a Food Truck Fall Festival in Beverly.
