The Circleville Pumpkin Show, a nice surprise, and the Beginning of Craft Fair Season
It’s the weekend of the Circleville Pumpkin Show, y’all, possibly Ohio’s oldest festival and one of its biggest. If you go, get there early and be patient because it’s a doozy. And, if you do go, prepare to eat plenty of delicious pumpkin foods (do not miss the pumpkin donuts and I really recommend the pumpkin burger). While putting this post together, I was surprised to see that a newer festival in Elyria, the Garford Arts Fest, is going on this Saturday! It usually has gone on in August, so I just took it as canceled/postponed. I’m actually hoping to check it out. If I do, I’ll have a review for you on Monday.
In other news, there aren’t many official festivals going on – remember that I consider festivals to have 1.) food vendors 2.) non-food vendors/crafts 3.) entertainment – but we are starting the craft show/bazaar season through late December. Therefore, you will notice that most of the Ohio events will actually be craft shows for a while.
Sorry that I don’t list craft shows for the other states.
BUT – now that I’ve mentioned the other states – please know that there are some GREAT festivals going on in some of the other states. For example, I’m excited about Kentucky’s Woolly Worm Festival and Pecan Festival.
States like Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are showing full festival potential while Illinois and Indiana are still going fairly strong. Check out the listings and the map and see what’s going on around you.
