Bigfoot, Dublin Irish, Twins, Bull Thistle, Roy Rogers, the Y-Bridge, and so much more!
I really love August, festival fans, because the festival numbers pick up even more as we enjoy the last bits of summer vacation.
There is also a lot of really cool festivals this month, including some this upcoming weekend!
One festival that is top on my radar is the Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival in Logan. This is the second year as a festival (before, it was more like a conference) and I still can’t attend this year, but the weather looks great and you should all go in my place (I’ll go next year). There will be live music, food truckl and “over 100 Squatchy Themed Vendors.”
Another big festival this weekend is named the biggest Irish Festival on the Planet: the Dublin Irish Festival…
…and I have attended this one as you can see (Review).
This festival is so big and full of vendors, entertainment and activities that it took me a good 2 hours only to see everything (and I feel I was moving quickly), so plan to stick around a few hours and just enjoy yourselves (you could easily spend the whole day). In fact, this weekend in Ohio, there are over 100 festivals and fairs, so let me help you out with some more recommendations as you try and make your plans…
- Twins Days Festival (Twinsburg): this is the largest gathering of twins anywhere in the world and this year’s theme is “Shiver me TWINbers” so expect to see pirate-related outfits this year. There are also twin contests, rides, entertainment, food and more. My Experience
- Bull Thistle Arts Festival (Fayette): a smaller, but delightful, festival themed after the bull thistle (that prickly plant with the purple flower on the top). My Experience
- Lakewood Arts Festival: a large selection of great artists brought together in downtown Lakewood, not to mention food vendors, multiple stages and more. My Experience
- Roy Rogers Festival (Portsmouth): if you love Roy Rogers or cowboys in general, then you can hear to Portsmouth for memorabilia, food, entertainment and all sorts of look-alike characters. My Experience
- Y-Bridge Arts Festival (Zanesville): plenty of artists and entertainment. I’m not sure if there will be any setup on the actual bridge but it will be nearby. My Experience

There are music festivals, art festivals, city/community festivals, and church festivals.
And there’s a festival in Union City, Ohio that is connected to the festival in the neighboring Union City, Indiana. Very cool!
