“The Reckoning” Highland Games and Festival – Vermilion, Ohio – My Experience

This post documents my experience on August 13, 2016.

Early Saturday morning in Vermilion’s Sherod Park…

…kilt-wearing weight lifters had a “gathering” of sorts…

…where they set up stations all around the area…

…to compete against each other with their weight-lifting skills…

…during “The Reckoning” Highland Games and Festival.

Although some people fixed their viewing from one spot…

…Max and I walked all around to check out all the competitions…

…including the Farmer’s Walk…

…the Deadlift…

…the “Jon Pall” Deadlift…

…the Open Stone Throw…

…the Weight Over Bar…

…the Stone Load…

…and the oh-so-impressive Truck Pull.

Among competition areas, we found some vendors selling merchandise…

…food ranging from decadent to super healthy (Oh Boy/Paleo To Me)…

…and a nice amount of beer to wash it all down.

There was also a playground (for Max)…

…a music DJ…

…a great view of the lake…

…and my younger brother who was able to pull a truck on his first try!

Great job, Rocky!
