St. Mary of the Woods Church Festival – Russells Point, Ohio – My Experience

This post documents my experience on July 20, 2013.

Rather close to Ohio’s Indian Lake

…is St. Mary of the Woods Church in Russells Point…

… where I happened to hear that they were having a festival!

I walked onto the grounds…

…by the candy art and fudge…

…and made a quick stop at the thrift shop…

…to make sure there was nothing I needed.

Once free, I felt pulled into the huge tent…

…with its offerings of chicken, pork chops and burgers…

…the temptations of homemade ice cream…

…and the band rocking in the back.

Beyond the tent stood a second one in back…

…except this one offered beer…

…along with gambling…

…gambling…

…and more gambling.

I couldn’t resist the Pot-O-Gold…

…and found myself shelling out $2 for 8 tickets…

…managing to win one of the hanging envelopes of my choice…

…which had only $1 hidden inside.

(I spent it and lost.)

I continued on…

…beyond the corn hole boards…

…and sunbathers…

…to find a ride area for the kids…

…as well as other types of kids and baby critters to pet.

After riding back to the front…

…I followed some festival goers into an inside area…

…where there were kids’ games…

…raffles…

…and a cake room…

…of all shapes and colors.

There was also an accidentally smashed cake in back…

…from which they gave away free samples!

Finally, at the end of the hall was a large open room…

…where cakes were used in a Cake Wheel game…

…and all sorts of items were set out in a silent auction.

One was even from a festival I had never heard of!
