This post documents my experience on August 11, 2018.
If you followed the music to Akron’s Lock 3 Park…
…you could find a celebration called the Signal Tree Fest…
…a festival FOR Akron (Buckeye Clothing Company)…
…ABOUT Akron (and not really about the Signal Tree itself)…
…and BY the people of Akron (Devo).

The festival took place in Locks 3 and 4…
…with a walkway between the two areas…
…and it had quite a large market…
…with such offerings as women’s clothing (Maplewood Boutique)…
…temporary body art (The Artful Cricket)…
…spiritually functional jewelry (Cable Creations)…
…Tarot readings and cleansing crystals…
…cleansing all natural soaps (Organza Naturals)…
…and a variety of local artists who either incorporated movement in their prints (Avsec Arts)…
…specialized in spray paint art (Can-Tastic Creations)…
…were inspired by comics and pop culture (BrotherToastyCakes)…
…or utilized signature eyes in their works (Harth Studios).
Area groups were also present, sharing info about the Summit Metro Parks…
…raising money for adopting pets from high kill pounds (Heaven Can Wait)…
…and trying to help military veterans through service dogs (NexGen).
And as the music played in both Lock 4…
…and Lock 3 (CityCop)…

…festival fans enjoyed some cold local beers (Thirsty Dog)…
…a refreshing fruit ice-pop (Popsmith)…
…and/or some grub that was pretty much hidden from view.

While there was the Zydeco truck (good stuff) and some general concessions…
…only the Stray Dog Cafe offered the “Akron food” I anticipated at this festival…
…with sauerkraut balls, Jo Jo’s, an Akron pickle…
…and a BBQ Chip Chop Sliders with a Lawson’s Chip Dip spread on the bottom bun…
…which was delicious!
