Lambert Days – Ohio City, Ohio – My Experience

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Over this weekend, powerful thunderstorms passed through the area and caused problems with many of the festivals that I attended either through delays, destruction or the cancellation of events. Please keep this in mind when reading these reviews, as my experience may not be the most typical.

This post documents my experience on July 20, 2013.

If you ever were to drive to the village of Ohio City…

…you would become familiar with John William Lambert

…who built the first gasoline powered single cylinder vehicle here…

…and helped make this village the location…

…for the world’s first automobile wreck!

Hooray!

But rather than celebrate Lambert Days with a demolition derby of vintage vehicles…

…the community comes together…

…to play athletic games…

…and enjoy activities that include climbing walls…

…jumping on inflatables…

…petting animals…

…and occasionally climbing inside inflated balls and being placed on a pool of water (actually, I wish I had footage of that).

Festival goers could also enjoy shopping among a handful of vendors…

…including shirts (Grover Hill Performance) and decorative shades (Shady Lady)…

…learn how to help Ohio’s Fallen Heroes

…or enjoy one of the outdoor snacks.

The rest of the food was found back here…

…where there was a selection of dessert on the table…

…various dinners and sandwiches behind the window…

…and some raffles and souvenirs for those who weren’t hungry.

I was a little peckish…

…so I got myself a slaw dog before hitting the road.
