AUTHOR’S NOTE: Over this weekend, powerful thunderstorms passed through the area and caused problems with many of the festivals that I attended either through delays, destruction or the cancellation of events. Please keep this in mind when reading these reviews, as my experience may not be the most typical.
This post documents my experience on July 20, 2013.
When I thought of going to the Immaculate Conception Parish Festival, I figured most of the activities would be in full swing by 12.
But as I approached the church…
…and realized how quiet everything was…
…I knew this wouldn’t be the typical festival review.
Although most of the festival’s attractions should have been in operation by then, the storms had most likely slowed things down.
This area was probably the biggest area still being setup…
…with two food stations…
…a stage for musical entertainment…
…and a beer truck sitting all alone.
Elsewhere…
…there were games that came along with the rides…
…plenty of church-run games…
…various other food vendors…
…and such an awesome hot dog stand…
…with such interesting toppings…
…that I had to try it myself (this is the Hong Kong Phooey with bacon, pineapple and teriyaki sauce).
I should also mention that if you go through these doors…
…down these stairs…
…through this doorway…
…past the trophy case…
…and to the left before hitting the creepy freezer…
…you’ll come to a mysterious door…
…that will lead you into the cake room…
…filled with breads, cupcakes…
…frosted cakes galore…
…healthy veggies tucked into the corner…
…and perhaps, if you’re lucky, a decadent cookie treat during your festival travels!.
