Muscles, Maple Syrup, Mac and Cheese, Music and Spirits.
March is here, Festival Fans, and I can’t tell if it feels early or late. The temperatures keep climbing and dropping and I’ve already seen flowers poking through the ground (“It’s too early, little petals! Get back under there where it’s warm!”).
Fortunately, the festivals are starting to pick up a little more as Maple Syrup Festivals come about for the next few weekends, particularly those at Malabar Farms in Lucas, (Review) College Corner and Bath. In fact, there are many more maple syrup non-festival events going – usually with just the Sugar Shack and a pancake breakfast – so you may want to check out what’s going on around you.
This weekend, there are also some rather special festivals, including the Arnolds Sports Festival in Columbus, where you can see all sorts of sporting competitions and bodybuilding. There are also tons of free samples if you’re into whey proteins, energy bars and the like. If carbs and dairy are more your style, you should check out the Mac N Cheese Throwdown (Review) in Cleveland, where area restaurants compete for the best Mac and Cheese. It’s fun to go with your friends, try out all the samples and vote for your favorite.
Other festivals this weekend include a Music Festival in Maumee and various Wine and Beer Festivals throughout the state (Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati, Madison). Plus, there are vendor shows also going on that you can find listed under Ohio Fairs and Shows.
