AUTHOR’S NOTES: This post documents my experience on January 26, 2019, but I first visited the Winter Days Festival in 2011. You can read that experience here:

In 2022, the event changed its name to Fire and Ice Walk.
****
Out at Mill Hollow, it was the perfect day for sledding…
…carriage rides…
…and a Winter Days Festival.
Although lasting only a few hours, there were many activities…
…including the aforementioned horse-drawn sleigh rides…
…a Meet n’ Greet with sled dogs (Siberian Husky Club of Greater Cleveland)…
…ice sculpting demonstrations…
…and even, a little further out…
…an ice harvesting demonstration on the frozen pond…
…although I kept a distance for that one.
To help stay warm, some festival goers circled around the fire…
…and cooked up some smores…
…while others picked up a nice hot pizza from Scott’s Fire and Ice.
But, if they still got too cold…
…they could either enjoy the warmth of the Bacon House…

…where they could tour the rooms…
…and learn about the old days through informative Living History volunteers…
…or they could go inside the barn…
…for fireside cooking demonstrations…
…live musical entertainment (Thor Platter)…
…and more hot refreshments in the forms of hot chocolate…
…and chili with all the fixins (Ehove Culinary).
