This past weekend, I took the family’s animal lover…
…to Cumberland, Ohio where 10,000 acres once used for surface mining…
…are now used as the North America’s largest conservation center.
Welcome to The Wilds…
…a magical land where we took a 2.5 hour bus tour…
…to see everything from Bactrian Camels…
…and Persian Onagers…
…to Sichuan Takins…
…and the occasional curious ostrich.
There was also a carnivore center bus stop which allowed us to safely view cheetahs…
…dholes…
…and a playful pack of African Painted Dogs.
It was great to see all the animals, even if at a distance…
…but it’s also good to know that we can get even closer through another tour if we decide.
Along with safari tours, The Wilds offers fishing, horseback riding, and zip line adventures.
It’s also not too far from Cambridge, Ohio…
…where a special Kennedy’s Bakery…
…gave our animal lover an animal cookie.
