2023 DATE: June 11, 2023
This post documents my experience on June 5, 2016.
With restaurants like Melt, Deagan’s, and Pier W, Lakewood has a lot of great grub to offer.
So when the Taste of Lakewood offered 36 Lakewood restaurants…
…all together in Madison Park…
…we wanted to get there early…
…because the hungry crowds come quickly.

This year, there were such restaurants as Forage, Sarita…
…and Pepper’s…
…the BBQ and ice cream stand The Gorilla…
…and even chocolate treats via Fear’s Confections.

Once we grabbed a shaded spot in one of the dining areas…
…we tasted such dishes as Coca-Cola rice…
…succotash and hot chicken…
…fresh cut fries (Melt)…
…and a variety of tacos (Barrio).
After, as the Lakewood High School Jazz Band belted out some melodies…
…I went to check out the Merchant Market…
…where festival goers worked up their appetites (or digestion)…
…as they shopped for children’s clothing (Fred and Daisy)…
…handmade soap (Stem)…
…bulk foods (Urban Bulk Foods)…
…and home decor (Frugal Fortune).
There was even an activity tent for children…
…and a juggling clown.
We finished our experience with some rather delicious ice cream and sorbet from The Sweet Spot…
…and got out of there right as some storm clouds were drifting in.
