When festival fans came to downtown Hamilton…

…for this year’s Operation Pumpkin…

…it was easy to guess how the festival got its name.

Two large areas of giant pumpkins were set up along High Street…

…as carvers worked tirelessly on their creations in hopes of winning a prize…

…and it was awesome to watch their process…

…while getting up close with all the amazing works surrounding the giant pumpkin areas.

Pumpkins could also be found in Pumpkin Sculpture Park…

…with fantastic pumpkin scenes…

…as well as in displays set about the festival grounds…

…sometimes set up as a photo op…

…with the biggest pumpkins placed on pedestals and accessible for even more photos.

Surrounding most of High Street were some stages for artistic demonstrations…

…as well as multitudes of vendors, offering repurposed lamps and decor…

…bourbon barrel signage and ghost planters…

…cozy hats and fragrant candles…

…handmade pottery and jewelry…

…home decor and art from animal bone…

…locally written books and harvested honey…

…and a ton of both clothing…

…and tees.

Booths were also hosted by local boards and organizations…

…the Hamilton Police Department…

…and local businesses offering products and services.

Meanwhile, as the music was rocking on the Main Music Stage…

…there were many thirsty visitors getting their fill on beer…

…and their was a lot of it.

I actually lost count of the stations after a while…

…(although I did see one wine and cocktail vendor)…

…so it was good they had as much food as they did…

…and there was a LOT.

There was everything from grilled cheese to foot longs…

…paninis to corn dogs…

…Tex-Mex to Thai…

…a section of treats including roasted nuts, licorice, various confections…

…and even a vendor selling mini pies.

Finally, for the kids, the festival also offered them a zone of their own…

…with rides…

…games…

…carnival concessions…

…face painting, balloon animals…

…and arts and crafts activities.

When not in operation, they also got to play on the Hometown Stage.
