This post documents my experience on June 22, 2024.
I was given a media pass.
I also visited this festival on June 23, 2012, when it took place at the Lorain County Fairgrounds. You can read that post HERE.

At the Ohio Scottish Games and Celtic Festival, there were many things to see and do.
You could get up close with a Clydesdale…

…meet and hold a falcon…
…head out to the clan village…

…and learn about (your own) genealogy…
…including the (Santa) Clauses.
There was an entire Medieval encampment…
…with music…
…an assortment of weapons…

…and knowledgeable people who shared how they clothing and paints were made.
For those interested in music…

…there were opportunities to get up close with certain instruments and try your hand…
…while certain buildings, like the Harp Building…
…hosted workshops and competitions.
Competitions, in fact, were a big part of the festival…
…whether in dance…
…music…
…or the Scottish Games themselves…

…where games like the the Stone Throw, the Sheaf Toss, the Haggis Throw and the Caber Toss all took place…
…and it was all fun to watch.
Children also had a version of the games in the Wee Ones’ Area, where there were also other activities..

…including arts and crafts and plenty of jumping…
…and there was also dog shepherding demonstration which they might enjoy.
Both of these were conveniently close to the Vendor Village area…

…where Mom and Dad could stock up on their Celtic garb…

…jewelry…

…books, Christmas ornaments…
…and maybe something for the kids if they were good.
There was also a selection of food nearby…
…where hungry guests could indulge in some haggis…
…bangers…
…various Irish grub like Reubens, fish and chips and Irish-inspired burgers…
…or a tasty meat pie with a side of brown sauce…
…all which could be washed down with a cold beer…

…soda or lemonade…
…and enjoyed under cover…
…while listening to music.
And, if you preferred a more traditional setting, the Tavern building was another great option…

…as the whiskey and beer was within easy reach…
…and the music was just as sweet.
