I arrived at St. Mary’s about the same time some rain clouds did…
…so I was thankful the Macedonian Ethnic Festival was covered for times like this.
I headed inside the hall…
…grabbed a tray and picked a direction…
…choosing among meats…
…peppers…
…cheese and spinach burek pies…
…pastries filled with spinach, cheese and leeks…
…breads, fried dough, mini pizzas…
…sweet pastries…
…cookies…
…and even a crepe station.
…until I made myself the perfect plate (also with mini sausages and stuffed cabbage).
I took my plate to the tent and forgot about the rain, thanks to the band performing…
…and my plate was empty before I knew it.
As the rain let up, volunteers continued grilling…
…and festival goers were nabbing drinks at one of two bars (because the evening was still young).
I took the opportunity to check out the church before leaving…
…admiring the colorful scenes and images painted around me…
…and above me too.
