Huron Riverfest – Huron, Ohio – My Experience

2023 DATE: July 7-9, 2023

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I first visited the Huron Riverfest in 2010, which you can read about at

This post documents my experience on July 15, 2012.

If you were heading to the Huron Riverfest and turned off of Route 6 from downtown Huron…

…you’re not going to see a festival.

Sure, there’s a closed road…

…but you have to keep going around corners (beyond the attended port-o-poties)…

…before you find what you’re looking for.

In a way, this might make the Huron Riverfest seem like a secret festival that only those in-the-know can find.

But why not put a few signs up to direct festival goers? Why all the hush-hush nonsense…

…especially when there’s enough food and seating for everyone?

Along with your cheese curds and chicken…

…there was “kettle korn” to snack on…

…and local grub that included perch and french fries.

Also, further down the road…

…in the midway area…

…there were other booths…

…that fried up just about anything.

The midway, I felt, had greatly improved from the last time I saw it…

…with miniature golf, stores…

…rides…

…and various games.

They even had this cool Angry Birds game!

Rather impressive.

And, speaking of birds, if you were in the gambling spirit…

…you could go to the St. Peter‘s booth…

…and purchase a duck in Duck Race.

(I didn’t win.)

Elsewhere at the festival…

…there were a few vendors, but they were almost hidden in the back.

At the bottom of a hill, the stage was also hidden…

…but I thought it was easy to find once you followed the music.
