Harvest Happenings – Huron, Ohio – My Experience

This post documents my experience on October 6, 2013.

In Huron’s Osborn Park (home of the most awesome playground set I have ever seen)…

…a community fall festival was taking place…

…called Harvest Happenings.

Originally, the festival was a tractor show put on by the Firelands Pioneer Power Association…

…and they were still a part of it with their tractor lines…

…old machinery displays…

…colorful equipment to pose with (or sit on)…

…and tractor raffle.

But since the past few years, the Erie MetroParks and other groups have joined forces with them in order to make it a fall community festival…

…adding attractions that included hay rides…

…face painting (Friends of Old Woman Creek)…

…pumpkin painting…

…bubbles…

…and critters that included butterflies…

…sheep, goats…

…longhorns…

…ponies…

…and birds, such as hawks, owls…

…and even an eagle.

Along with the many attractions came plenty of food…

…from perch and chuck wagon chili…

…to loaded steak sandwiches (Cold Creek Cafe)…

…and some of these booths were run by community organizations.

Meanwhile, vendors sold things from apples and hats…

…to colorful blown glass (Alexis de Leon)…

…and Heritage Minstrels periodically strolled around as they played.

We were strolling ourselves…

…when we met this nice girl from Funcoast who was taking photos of festival highlights.

Fortunately, we ended up being one of them (Courtesy of Funcoast).
