Festa Italiana – Lorain, Ohio – My Experience

This post documents my experience on September 7, 2013.

When Max and I pulled into the IAV (Italian American Veterans) for the Festa Italiana, it was our fourth festival of the day.

He had been in and out of car seats and strollers at least three times already and I wasn’t sure how long he would last.

But still we ventured on in the back…

…to hear Nia Covington sing some Frank Sinatra…

…watch Lorenzo’s of Oberlin cooking up some pizzas…

…and prevent Max from getting too curious about the inflatable…

…older kids’ activities…

…and bocce court access.

We eventually headed inside, passed the hot dogs…

…and Dean Martin in the doorway…

…to find a room filled with people who chatted away…

…while enjoying drinks from the two bars…

…sausage, meatballs, pasta, eggplant and wedding soup from the dining window…

…some ice cream…

…and any number of baked goods…

…that came in all shapes and colors.

Other festival offerings included…

…raffles…

…Italian souvenirs…

…and even sauce bottled by Jungle Jim’s in honor of his mother Marie (on left).

But Max didn’t notice any of this…

…for he was getting the attention himself…

…from friends, family…

…and strangers alike…

…and he loved it.
