This post documents my experience on October 11, 2014.
Although the playground in Hardesty Park seemed the same…
…the pumpkin border marking the area…
…made it clear that DeBord’s Halloween Festival was taking place.
And within that pumpkin border was Halloween decor…
…along the fields…
…hanging from the trees…
…and at various booths…
…where you could find autumnal produce…
…Ghoulardi and Muck Monster fun…
…ghoulish crafts…
…trolls galore (Troll Hole)…
…nail-biting literature (Post Mortem Press)…

…Halloween baked goods a-plenty (Oh Sweet Treat)…
…and everything ranging from tightening and toning products (It Works!)…
…to your typical scary mask, sword and clown portrait collection.

Activities/entertainment included fortune tellers (Lady Silvercrow/Enchantments Jewelry)…
…spray art…
…balloon artists…
…caricatures (Let’s Face it)…
…dress-up photo ops (Jen Pezzo)…

…a small car show…
…wrestling…

…musical acts…
…Highland Games…
…belly dancing…
…live snakes to pet…

…a bit of grub to eat…

…and more kids’ activities than I could count.
And there were still more Halloween-esque things to take part in…
…via paranormal societies (MFPS)…
…a Star Trek club (U.S.S. LAGRANGE)…
…a Midnight Movie or two…
…and a costume contest.
Honestly, seeing all the costumes was my greatest delight of the festival…
…because it wasn’t only the kids who dressed up.
Costumes ranged from Sci-Fi/Fantasy…
…to funny…
…to a little bit scary.
But even the most frightening were amicable enough to pose for your photo.
