This post documents my experience on September 13, 2014.
Just along the Great Miami River…
…where Orville Wright tested and developed seaplanes after his brother’s death…
…a festival was taking place.
But although the Wright Brothers were remembered here (Wright Seaplane Base)…
…this festival celebrated buttercream.
Started by elé Cake Co. a few years back (hence the festival theme)…
…the Buttercream Festival didn’t really become a town festival until just this year…
…where it showcased local churches (Memorial United Methodist)…
…local organizations (Ladies Auxiliary Post 3438)…
…and even a local artist (Gunnar Lloyd).
Apart from some metaphysical jewelry I found (MerKaBa Creations)…

…vendors mostly consisted of sales rep booths (Tastefully Simple/thirty-one)…
…with one woman’s surname actually matching the product (Alicia Sprinkles).
I was more interested in the food (Smoothie King)…

…with offerings from places like El Meson and Ole Tyme Hamburgers…
…and desserts in the form of pizzelles (Raphael’s)…
…ice cream (Mobile Cone)…
…and cakes (El & Al).
The main attraction was obviously the elé Cake booth…
…where there were cake demos…
…a cupcake bar…
…and even buttercream shots…
…which were impossible to resist.
Fortunately, entertainers used all the extra sugar to their advantage…

…while kids made full use of the jump houses.
