AUTHOR’S NOTE: There is an updated 2014 Review here –

This post documents my experience on September 25, 2010.
********************
Especially as the sun keeps setting earlier, I do my best to arrive at festivals in the daytime so that photos are better and there’s still some festival activity…
…it’s just that sometimes things don’t go according to plan.
Since I started in Columbus that morning and already hit 4 festivals during a 330 mile trek, it seemed unlikely that I would make Port Clinton before sundown. I had already missed the Annual Lime Fest in Woodville because they had the gall to end their one-day festival at 4 pm. So, as I headed to Port Clinton and the stars started poking through the sky’s darkening fabric, I simply hoped that the Port Clinton Harvest Festival’s late closing (11 pm) meant that everyone would still be open until then.
But as you can see, even at 8 o’clock…
…only a few vendors hung on…
…while others left hints of what was available during the day.
Holding its 18th celebration, the festival did stay true to its schedule…
…it was still going on…
…it was just concentrated in the big tent…

…where the beer and food vendors remained opened…
…and I was able to get a tasty walleye sandwich.
I walked to the front of the tent…
…passing some people who were checking out the OSU game…
…and found a seat near the band from Cleveland.
Sometimes it pays to show up a little late.
Enjoy!
