This post documents my experience on September 12, 2010.
Now that we’ve already experienced the 1800’s through the Great Trail Festival, it only made sense to step even further back…
…into the 1700’s.And, with a paid ticket, I was able to do just that…
…stepping within these walls at Clay’s Park Resort in Canal Fulton…
…to explore the mapped area of the Yankee Peddler Festival.
Here, I visited the areas of…
…the mountain men…
…the wagon train…
…and the militia…
…taking note that one woman was calling the future on her cell.
I was able to choose from a huge selection of food vendors, including…
…ox, pulled pork…
…stew and pie.
And, as I walked the grounds…
…I took notice of town criers who informed festival goers of entertainment at particular sites…
…as well as one of the many built stages.
But, even with all the food and attractions…
…most of these people came to shop.
Using vendors who either sold items or used techniques reflective of the time period, the Yankee Peddler maintained the spirit of the 1700’s while giving festival goers…
… a lot to sort through.
But if none of these items matched your style…
…the festival set something aside just for you.
Considered a festival within a festival, Yankee Peddler Today Festival dealt with the more modern…
…products…
…food…
…and entertainment.
This section was separated in the same way that Futureland is separated at Disneyland – on the same grounds but in its own section.
And with vendors and entertainment completely different…
…you never had to ask yourself which section you were currently in.
One thing that made the Yankee Peddler so great was the attention to detail.
The vendor booths, for example, were built either by the vendor or by the festival staff…
…constructed before the festival and taken down after.
Along with that…
…modern conveniences were disguised…
…small touches were added throughout…
…and period music was everywhere.
In fact, it was so abundant that I wanted to share some of it with you.
