This post documents my experience on September 9, 2022.

I made a visit to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral

…and it was a truly beautiful place of worship…

…that wowed the eyes in every direction…

…but, truth be told, it wasn’t for (only) prayer I had come to the Cathedral…

…for it was also actually the host of the Toledo Greek-American Festival.

Just passed the impressive truck (or cash) raffle…

…and the Greek boutique…

…which offered everything from Greek combat gear…

…to ancient pottery…

…there was a central outdoor dining area…

…where I found signs pointing to all the various food dishes.

On one side of the grounds, there was a huge Taverna tent…

…where you could get wine, beer…

…and the ever-inviting ouzo slushie.

Food booths surrounded the Taverna, including hot dogs, pizzas, baklava sundaes…

…gyros and fries…

…and the saganaki flaming cheese…

…which was great watching them prepare…

…and even better to eat.

The other side of the grounds had the booth for the loukoumathes honey balls…

…and a tent for various dinners and ala carte items…

…including my favorites of moussaka, pastichio and spanakopita…

…which were enjoyed with a gyro…

…while listening to a wonderful musical performance (The Musicians of Olympus).

After a few rounds of some calorie-burning bounce houses and obstacle courses (Simpson’s Moonwalks)…

…I finally headed to a building in the center…

…which had an indoor dining area…

…where the bookstore sold religious items…

…and their award-winning recipe book…

…the church prepared strong Greek coffee…

…and I could purchase my weight in homemade Greek desserts…

…which I practically did, honestly.

I even had some to bring home for later.
