Olmsted Heritage Days – Olmsted Falls, Ohio – My Experience

This post documents my experience on August 19, 2012.

If you’ve ever been to Grand Pacific Junction in Olmsted Falls…

…not only should you recognize this stationary train…

…but you should also be familiar with these old-fashioned-looking businesses.

At first, it looks like fun…

…a Wild West town to freely run wild in and cause all types of raucous…

…until you realize that you can’t climb that tree…

…or sit on that buggy…

…or even use that outhouse…

…because it’s always occupied.In fact….

…after years of stopping, not entering…

…and using the front door all the time…

…it was time to loosen up and celebrate.

The Olmsted Heritage Days did just that….

…bringing back those days when people walked around with guns…

…and turned boring historic weddings…

…into fun shoot-em-ups for everyone to enjoy.

Fortunately no one was really hurt.

All jokes aside…

…the festival was a nice excuse to help area businesses (Falls Ice Cream)…

…while also allowing local vendors to come in…

…to sell both food (Kiwanis/Moosehead)…

…and gift items that included crafts, purses…

…jewelry, wood workings (Debra A. Newell)…

…and art (Sean & Gail Crum).

Meanwhile, in-between all that shopping…

…festival goers could chat with re-enactors…

…entertain their kids at the Kids First Learning Center booth…

…and inform themselves with periodic announcements about upcoming events…

…of which often occurred at one of the two stages…

…where bands like Jim and Eroc could rock out to the music of Johnny Cash.
