The North Ridgeville Corn Festival is a pretty sizeable festival with a lot to offer, including an Arts and Crafts Fair, vendors, local organizations, games, rides, live entertainment, a huge selection of food and even a Corn Eating Contest. Over the weekend, there are also fireworks and a parade.

This post documents my experience on August 15, 2010.
When the North Ridgeville Corn Festival began in 1975, it consisted of only 12 booths placed around the track of the North Ridgeville Middle School.
Since then, it’s gotten a lot bigger.
In fact, the Corn Festival is a pretty sizable event…
…with its own carnival area for the kids…

…equipped with games and rides…
…and a nearby beer area for the parents to flock to.
Going deeper into the festival, I did get a little uneasy…
…because, once you enter a small court of booths…
…there’s an innocent looking game area…
…where children appear to fight to the death.
On opposing sides of this public spectacle…
…are tables representing North Ridgeville schools…
…and the Blood Vessel bus.
So rather than stick around too long, I simply pushed forward. Here, I found myself on a long busy street where most of the activity was going on …
…the midway.
This was easily the best part of the festival, presenting a rather diverse collection of booths, including…
…pet sitters…
…children’s craft activities…
…rather early military recruitment…

…political parties…

…and some great looking food.
And the location to eat all that food couldn’t have been better. Located right across the midway…
…this park was the perfect place to sit down and eat…
…and it was absolutely beautiful.
Fortunately at the festival, they were also selling corn…

…and plenty of it.
But corn was celebrated in other ways as well…
…through kettle korn…

…way too many corn dogs…
…and just the right amount of corn hole.
There was even a souvenir tent with gifts…
…both cute…
…and a little bizarre.
But maybe that’s because dolls creep me out.
