The Lexington Blueberry Festival takes place in Lexington Community Park with contests, live entertainment, vendors and, of course, blueberries. Each food vendor should have at least one blueberry dish, so be sure to look for signs.

This post documents my experience on August 21, 2010.
When I first came to the Lexington Blueberry Festival last year, I was really disappointed. Except for one main blueberry booth, I didn’t see many blueberries.
But since I was returning to Bucyrus for the Bratwurst Festival, and Lexington was nearby, I decided to give it a second chance.
In fact, this time, I examined the blueberry festival’s website more closely and found a food vendor listing with each of their menus. Most vendors were selling one token blueberry product…but I needed to see this for myself since I missed it completely last year.
Having escaped the drizzling rain of Bucyrus, I met the more steady showers of Lexington…
…where traffic stopped moving.
As I drove slowly toward the festival grounds and parking area, I noticed two crosswalk areas where guards kept stopping traffic for pedestrians. The problem was that they didn’t wait until a small group formed before crossing them. Instead, they stopped traffic whenever someone reached the curb. This slowed down traffic so much that I didn’t even want to stop my car enough to ask the guards if parking was free or not, being that no dollar amount was written on the signs.
I parked elsewhere and walked my way to the the street at the same time that an older woman did. Before even reaching the curb, she blurted, “Well, are they going to let us cross?”
I don’t think she even finished this sentence before the guards were in the street and stopping traffic.
The rain started to get heavier and I wasted no time…
…heading straight for the food midway.
Apart from the same blueberry tent I saw last year…
…with its blueberry menu and blueberry products…
…it looked like any other festival.
But then, in the corner of my eye…
…at the Lemon Shake-Up Pirate Booth…
…I noticed a sign for a separate blueberry item.
Happy with this fresh discovery, I took advantage of the rain’s ability to clear everyone out of the midway. With no crowd to obstruct my view of the booths and vans…
…I was able to see the blueberry signs more easily…
…even when they were really small.
In fact, here at this dog and fry booth…
…there’s no sign of a blueberry…
…but what’s this little sign say?
A blueberry corn dog with breakfast sausage and blueberry dipping sauce?
Don’t mind if I do!
Actually the girl gave me a skeptical look when I ordered it…but I thought it was good.
With my faith in the blueberry-esque-ness of the Lexington festival mostly restored, I explored other areas of the festival, finding…
…carnival games and rides…
…a rope bridge for the kids…
…and Scottish games for the adults.
I was impressed with the Caber Toss…especially in the rain.
They also had…
…cornhole games and an entertainment stage in a tented area…
…vendors both in a tent and under canopies…
…and even tons of animals to admire…
…ride…
…win…
…or pet.
Actually, I didn’t touch these alpacas, but my mere proximity seemed to make them react in whining sounds…

Perhaps it was my intense aura.
Perhaps it was the camera being pointed at them.
Perhaps it was my blueberry-corn-dog-and-sausage breath.
Yeah…it was probably that.
