Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival – Huntsburg, Ohio – My Experience

2023 DATE: October 7-8, 2023

This post documents my experience on October 1, 2011.

On a cold and rainy October morning, I drove my way into Geauga County, passing many Amish buggies along the way. I often forget that there are Amish communities out that way, and it made me happy to see them since Amish equals farming, farming equals pumpkins…

…and pumpkins equals festivals

.At the Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival, parking was free, but designated in specific lots. I chose the first one I came across….

…at the Huntsburg Baptist Church

…and climbed aboard the limo service…

…arriving at the festival mere moments later.

Once I passed the pumpkin stand at the entrance…

…I found various local vendors all scattered about…

…and many of them sold pumpkin products…

…like the pumpkin sweets from Dangerously Delicious (Middlefield)…

…the pumpkin seeds from Darrel’s Peanuts…

…and the plethora of pumpkin products…

…sold by the 4-H Breeders and Feeders.

In fact, one nice thing about the festival was that all the vendors were comprised of local vendors or groups, selling homemade pumpkin products…

…giving gifts and festival info on part of their local church

…or raising money for organizations, such as Women Safe (raised by Friends of Women Safe).

Food-wise, the festival satisfied the typical appetite….

…with a handful of traditional food vendors…

…and even a covered kitchen area…

…where they even sold pies from my home town (Mama Jo).

Kids could take advantage…

…of pony rides (it was early yet)…

…some covered kid games…

…and a nearby playground…

…while adults were offered two craft shows…

…(even with pumpkin products)…

…various raffle opportunities…

…and even a stage for some music entertainment.

For everyone, though, the heart of the festival…

…was found in the area of enormous zucchini, watermelon, sunflowers…

…and gigantic pumpkins that were incredible to behold.

I gave these monster pumpkins an appreciative nod and found the bus back…

…taking home some sweet pumpkin festival souvenirs.
