Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Festival – Cleveland Heights, Ohio

The Sts, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church Greek Festival offers plenty of food from fried smelts and calamari outside to traditional Greek dishes like gyros and moussaka inside, plus plenty of music and shopping.

This post documents my experience on August 25, 2012.

The Greek Festival in Cleveland Heights is bigger than many of the area Greek festivals.

Along with a small kids’ area…

…the outside section had a huge dining area…

…set with 2 bars…

…a food service area…

…(with a separate line for food favorites)…

…and plenty of calamari and smelts to go around (the main reason I like this festival).

Nearby, there were also a lemonade stand…

…with vodka potential…

…Greek coffee, baklava sundaes…

…and an area for entertainment.

But this was just the start….

…because if festival goers followed the signs inside…

…they could find plenty more…

…including a large interior dining area…

…with more meal selections…

…such as lamb shanks and gyros (and overpriced moussaka)…

…an indoor bar…

…and seemingly limited desserts (sorry, I wasn’t impressed)…

…although I loved the order sheet.

Outside the dining hall and down the hallway, various rooms were used as…

…gift shops…

…a cultural center…

…and a theater for film and cooking demos…

…while the church (worth checking out) could be found at the end.

And just in case potential shoppers still didn’t get their fill, there was still more in the basement….

…with more vendor booths (kudos for the grocery store!)…

…and an additional pastry booth.

In fact, if you kept exploring….

…there was even a flea market…

…which was a rather interesting addition.
