The Dresden Melon Festival takes place along the Muskingum River at Dresden River Park, where there are vendors, food trucks and a stage for live music and competitions. There are also a kids area, a petting zoo, a car show and a melon booth selling fresh watermelon and cantaloupe.

The Dresden Melon Festival…
…took place at Dresden River Park…
…a beautiful setting along the Muskingum River…
…that was reachable by shuttle or on foot from the parking area at the high school.
A vendor area could be found near the festival entrance…
…where festival goers could shop among colorful potholders and gourd birdhouses…
…playful kissing critters…
…handcrafted jewelry…
…baskets and jams…
…Scandinavian gnomes…
…home decor…
…and even just a chance to relax for a bit.
Meanwhile, the kids could enjoy an area of their own…
…with games, a bounce house…
…and various photo-ops.
At the heart of the festival, there was stage for live music and competitions…
…a basket raffle area…
…and multiple food vendors offering grilled cheese, burgers…
…wings and more…
…including this trailer hosted by the American Legion…
…where I picked up this fried bologna sandwich.
And, while mini donuts made a nice option for dessert…
…I decided to stop at the melon booth with fresh watermelon and cantaloupe…
…to purchase a cup of cantaloupe for only 2 dollars.
And it was absolutely delicious.
