The Port Clinton Arts and Crafts Festival currently takes place at Waterworks Park, offering a nice selection of arts and crafts vendors, usually with maritime themes (lighthouses, sea glass). In the past, there have also been food trucks and vendors or activities for children.

This post documents my experience on June 9, 2012 when it took place in downtown Port Clinton.
With Julia in Kentucky, I decided to take my mom out for a morning of festivals.
So we first headed out to Port Clinton, ate at Ala Carte Cafe (which I highly recommend)…
…made friends with a cat in a store window…
…also made friends with Bella, the new pup of Belle LaRose Boutique…
…and then strolled on over to the Downtown Port Clinton Arts and Crafts Festival.
Put on by the Northcoast Arts Alliance of Ohio…
…the festival consisted of two lines of booths…

…that offered colorful glass jewelry…
…outside decor…
…beautiful birdhouses…
…lighthouses galore…
…uncategorizable stuff…

…and a great assortment of homemade bread!Local artists were also amongst the booths….
…with colorful landscapes on reclaimed doors (Matt Ritter)…
…realistic marine life on driftwood (Bernice Hamler)…
…and high quality driftwood furniture and more.
Whenever hunger struck…
…festival goers only needed to follow the signs…
…for a hot perch sandwich.
There were also smoothie options to wash it down…
…and a variety of cake pops for dessert.
Looking back at the announcement of the festival, I see that there was supposed to be musical entertainment, but we were probably there too early to take advantage of that.
Fortunately, even that early in the day…
…kids could get their face painted…
…or take part in craft activities by the Immaculate Conception School…
…while adults could take part in the Ohio Star Quilters Guild‘s quilt raffle.
My mother, meanwhile….
…decided to take part in the shea butter demonstration…
…which I found rather entertaining.
