I simply couldn’t pass up another breakfast of eggs, salmon and salmon roe.
I could eat it up every day!
After I got got ready, I went about town…
…taking note of painted birds…
…marshmallows in window displays…
…vampires…
…the entrances of phallus museums (Phallological Museum)…
…gate posts for single gloves…
…and the typical parked baby stroller with baby (common here).
I took a careful and leisurely walk on icy sidewalks…
…where the interior was rather modern…
…with seat backings that could be changed…
…so that the audience could either face the altar of the church in the back…
…or a performance area in the front.
I was there for the latter (notice the 42 on my ticket? Sign of my upcoming birthday, perhaps?)…
…in the form of Christmas concert.
After, I got a nice lox and egg sandwich…
…and then walked…
…passed a gaggle of geese…
…who apparently thought I might be carrying bread…
…away from downtown…
…and through a cemetery…
…where I only heard the crunching of my feet in the snow…
…and then north…
…to the Marina Walk…
…where I passed boats parked on snow-covered parking lots…
…in order to stop at Valdís…
…for an afternoon treat.
That evening, amongst the souvenir shopping…
…the Yule Lad sightings…
…and baby stroller parking…
…I stopped for a bite at Bæjarins beztu pylsur (which means “the best hot dog in town”)…
…and it was pretty tasty with its ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion and remolaði (mayo sauce with sweet relish).
I opted out of the raw onions.
It was a Friday night and the food trucks were setting up for a long evening of night clubs and music…
…but I, instead, had a 9:30 reservation at Fish Company (Fiskfélagið)…
…where I enjoyed an appetizer of marinated whale meat with asparagus, pear shavings, herbs, and balsamic glaze…
…an entree of fried skate, shrimp and scallops with a tartar sauce and herbs…
…and a dessert consisting of white chocolate pyramids, a blood orange parfait, salt caramel orange leaf and caramel sand.
The cow wallpaper in the bathroom was a nice memorable touch.
