This post documents my experience on May 21, 2011.
After filling our bellies with Romanian food, Julia and I headed to nearby Medina…
…for the Chalk Art Festival.
Taking place in downtown Medina, it was the perfect location on a beautiful day…
…where we could stroll along the sidewalks…
…and admire the various chalk art…
…both detailed…
…and to-the-point.
Common themes among the artists were…

…radiant suns…

…surreal happy things…

…and a lot of critters.
Since I had been to Medina’s Ice Festival in February, I didn’t expect there to be many options vendor-wise. Medina’s festivals tend to bring in festival-goers as a promotion for local business – something I greatly respect.
Therefore, as expected, the only booths out there….
…were for kettle corn…
…and chalk art registration…
…while sponsored chalk drawings were positioned in front of businesses to lure people in.

Overall, this tactic worked…

…as we did enter a number of stores.
I even picked up some doggie treats.
Once we went around the entire square, I told Julia that there was a hot dog place called Dan’s Dogs that I was really interested in trying. It was a cute place, designed a little like a 1950’s soda shop (but with a table top arcade machine with various games from the 1980’s).
It was here that I treated myself to the Frito Bandito…
…a chili dog topped with crushed Frito corn chips…
…and a wonderful float with homemade root beer.
Obviously, the experience was magical.
