I was recently invited to meet the fine people behind Cleveland’s glorious mustards, Bertman Foods…
…at The Proper Pig Smokehouse (Lakewood) for some small talk and eats.
This was a quickly accepted invitation, as I’ve been wanting to try the food at The Proper Pig for some time, having seen their food truck at festivals (but somehow missing the opportunity in the past).
Now, I had the perfect excuse to catch up with some blogger friends (particularly the Jen of Why CLE? and Alicia of Poise in Parma), meet and chat with those involved at Bertman Foods…
…and eat some mine samplings of meat incorporating some Bertman mustard flavors (this is the part I thought you might be interested in).
Our first course was a Texas hot link with Dortmunder Gold Beer Mustard and potato salad with the classic stadium mustard (potato salad and mustard is delicious!)…
…followed up with a tender, succulent beef brisket that had been rubbed with mustard beforehand (I had seconds).
As an added treat, they pulled out the beef ribs…
…and I regret to say that I devoured them before even thinking of taking a picture of the plated meat.
After a nice dessert of banana bread pudding…
…we continued to chat about Cleveland, its history and its condiments…
…and some of us were gifted this nice box of Bertman Food products.
I even nabbed some emergency mustard packets for the road.
