This post documents my experience on October 6, 2023.

Festival Introduction

A year or two before I started really going to festivals (maybe 2008?), I came across the Beaver Oktoberfest by chance. I was exploring various communities in Southern Ohio when I came through Beaver and was detoured around the festival.

At the time, I wasn’t sure what the festival was but, through my festival research and travels, learned that it was the Oktoberfest and vowed to return one day.

Many years later, this was that day…or night.

The sun set shortly before I arrived.

Festival Structure

The Beaver Oktoberfest is a community festival that takes place downtown.

While the name suggests that it is Germanic in nature, I didn’t notice anything German about it. No German music, food, decor or lederhosen.

Instead, it’s a solid fall festival that runs along Main Street with kids rides and games on one end of the festival and a large music stage on the other. There’s a nicely sized craft tent, more vendors spread along the Main Street and a ton of food vendors.

Let’s talk about each of those things below.

Attractions and Entertainment

There were all sorts of things to see and do at the festival.

There was an assortment of rides…

…Laser Tag and obstacle courses…

…various games…

…a blacksmith…

…and two stages for a Science Show, competitions…

…and some live music, of course.

Meanwhile, some entertainers, like Cracker Jack the Clown, strolled around the festival grounds to meet and delight festival fans.

And I should also mention this display area…

…where pumpkins referenced pop culture figures, board games…

…and more in fun and creative ways.

Vendors

Vendors along Main Street offered seasonal decor, toys and gifts…

…fashionable clothing, jewelry…

…and a chance to win a gun or two…

…while, inside the tent…

…even more vendors awaited with mums…

…Halloween wreaths, scary chocolate…

…Native American gifts…

Backwoods Creations

…and a huge selection of tumblers.

And the tent was also shared with community businesses, churches…

…medical practices…

…each sharing info about themselves and their services.

Food

I was particularly impressed with the Beaver Oktoberfest’s food lineup…

…as there were tacos, pizza…

…Philly cheesesteaks, chicken noodle dinners…

…burgers, hot dogs and so much more.

Before heading out, I purchased myself a three taco meal from Mango’s…

…and it was delicious!
