Vikings, Maple Syrup, Dogwood, Ramps and Asian Food: the Unofficial beginning of Festival Season!
Welcome back, Festival Fans.
Now I know it’s only April and it’s Ohio…
…but this weekend is basically the unofficial start of Ohio’s Festival Season.
You may be asking me, “How could you possibly say that? We all know that the official start is Memorial Day Weekend.”
But it’s actually now.
Memorial Day Weekend is what Ohioans like to call the official start to summer. Festivals in Ohio actually go on all year in one form or another (although definitely not as frequently).
But the reason I say this weekend is the start to Ohio’s Festival Season is because of the Geauga County Maple Festival (Review) in Chardon – a town notorious for it’s high quantities of snow – has the honor of being the first Ohio festival of the year to bring out the outdoor rides (see my note below when mentioning the Dogwood Festival).
That, to me, starts off Festival Season.
But it’s not the only festival this weekend.
Also, this weekend, you have the Kent American Roots Music Festival, the Medina Beer Fest, the popular Pike County Dogwood Festival (which ALSO has rides this weekend but starts a day later than the Maple Festival), the garlicy Ramp Up Peninsula (Review), delicious Asian Food Festival (Cincinnati)…
…and the Viking Fest (Review) in Ashville…
…with turkey legs a-plenty.
