AUTHOR’S NOTE: I had a rant at the beginning of this post about not mentioning the admission in advertising (making it a surprise). Through communication with both parishioners and organizers, it was stated to me that all future festivals marketing/advertising will communicate the admission price.

Allow me get something off my chest (possible pun with the photo?).

At the Springboro Oktoberfest, there was a $3 admission, which was not mentioned here…

…or on the festival webpage (festival info page)…

…or on the info tab of the Facebook page.

And did I mention that the festival took place at a church?

Note to church: Fix it so that families don’t feel deceived, especially on if they’re on limited budgets…

…only to have to pull out additional money at the ATM you provide with possible fees.

*deep breath*

That all said…it actually was a nice festival…

…with activities that included inflatables…

…kids’ games…

…raffling games (for booze)…

…gambling games…

…games of strength (stein-holding)…

…games of skill…

…and cultural entertainment.

There were various beer stands…

…and even a wine stand…

…making it really easy to sit back in the lounging areas…

…while snacking on pretzels…

…(perhaps topped with beer cheese)…

…or the tempting cream puffs.

And along with the desserts and snacks…

…there was plenty of good meal eating at the festival…

…with roasted chicken, schnitzel, cabbages (green and red), spaetzels and more.

They even had curry ketchup…

…which I used on my chicken, gouda and apple sausage…

…and I rather liked it.

Aside from eating and games, the courtyards were fun places to socialize…

…and show off your German pride…

…perhaps inspiring others to check out the souvenir booths…

…for more modern Germanic clothing to purchase…

…before calling it a night.
