Hello, Festival Fans!

We are already into August and the festival weekends are getting even bigger with nearly 80 festivals in Ohio this weekend (not including fairs and shows)!

Also, if you are near the border, check the other Festival Schedules because there are bound to be other nearby fests in neighboring states.

So how are you liking these picks?  Do you prefer them to the other weekly posts of upcoming fests?

Please give me your feedback!

Weekend Festival Picks

August 4-7, 2016

************************************************************

Roy Rogers Festival - Portsmouth

1.) Roy Rogers Festival – Portsmouth – August 3-6

This isn’t your typical festival, as it is part trade show, part look-a-like competition, part Roy Rogers homage event.  But if you love westerns, admire Roy Rogers, and have always wanted to check out Portsmouth, I really recommend stopping by.  A nearby restaurant called the Scioto Ribber is also worth a stop.  Check out my Review of this festival at http://ohiofestivals.net/roy-rogers-festival-portsmouth/ for more info.

y bridge zanesville

2.) Y Bridge Arts Festival – Zanesville – August 5-7

There’s only one Y-shaped bridge in the United States and it’s in Zanesville (it’s really cool, honestly).  Here and in downtown, there is an arts festival with food vendors, a children’s tent, various forms of entertainment (music, poetry, etc.) and a good number of artists.  By looking at the website, it’s hard to tell if the artists will be on the bridge or not.  Hopefully, they are as they were in my 2011 Review found at http://ohiofestivals.net/39-y-bridge-arts-festival-zanesville-august-6-2011/

3.) Canoegrass Festival – Tipp City -August 5-7

If you embrace canoes, water, mud and bluegrass, this is the festival you’ve been waiting for.  This is a festival where you’re going to want to bring a tent, sleeping bag, and cooler (you can bring your own food and beverage, but there will be food trucks for a portion of the festival).  This is what summer is all about along the Great Miami River.

Twins Day Festival - Twinsburg

4.) Twins Day Festival – Twinsburg – August 5-7

This is unlike any festival you’ve ever experienced, but not because of the food vendors, rides and entertainment.  The amount of identical twins and triplets in one location is simply mesmerizing and it’s so cool, especially with themed matching costumes (it’s space and aliens this year).  Many twins come every year and made incredible connections with other twins all over the world.  Read more about this in my experience at http://ohiofestivals.net/39-twins-day-festival-twinsburg-august-7-2010/

Bull Thistle Arts Festival

5.) Bull Thistle Arts Festival – Fayette – August 6

After several years of trying to get information about this festival (the website isn’t all that great), I finally headed to NW Ohio to see this festival for myself.  Located in a park, this festival has bull thistle competitions, arts and crafts (some pieces with a bull thistle theme), an entertainment stage, an arm-wrestling competition, and food sold by local groups and the occasional food truck.  One thing not to miss is the Bull Thistle Burger, a burger with both a hamburger and sausage patty (Bull Thistle sauce is available on the condiments table).  Read about this at http://ohiofestivals.net/bull-thistle-arts-festival-fayette/

6.) Dublin Irish Festival – August 5-7

You have not been to an Irish festival until you’ve gone here!  This festival is huge with tons of Irish merchandise vendors, Irish grub, so many stages and performances, beer galore, plenty for the kids, genealogy, and just so much!  It took me at least 2 hours to get through this festival to document it.  You can easily spend the day here.  Check out my review at http://ohiofestivals.net/38-dublin-irish-festival-august-6-2011/

Oberlin Family Fun Fair

7.) Oberlin Family Fun Fair and Classic Car Show – August 6

This is cute family festival located in a fantastic quaint historic town (I’m totally biased), one worth checking out while you’re here.  Elements of the festival include vendors along the street, walking magicians and entertainers, a few food trucks, a farmer’s market, sidewalk sales and a car show.  Check out my review at http://ohiofestivals.net/oberlin-family-fun-fair-and-classic-car-show/

Lakewood Arts Festival

8.) Lakewood Arts Festival – August 6

Over 150 artists come together to offer you some high quality pieces made in all sorts of media.  While browsing the booths, you will also likely see street musicians, local organizations, food booths (and trucks) and a farmer’s market if you get there early enough.  Read my review at http://ohiofestivals.net/31-lakewood-arts-festival-august-4-2012/

Chardon Arts Festival

9.) Chardon Arts Festival  – August 7

I have a feeling that, if you miss the arts festival in Lakewood on Saturday, you will likely find many of the artists here on Sunday.  The Chardon Arts Festival has plenty of higher end artists (check out the copper frogs), music and food all in their downtown square.  It’s a nice and relaxing way to spend your Sunday.  Check out my review at http://ohiofestivals.net/chardon-arts-festival/

Warehouse District Street Festival - Cleveland

10.) Warehouse District Street Festival – Cleveland – August 7

This street(s) festival brings you street performers, gift vendors, 2 entertainment stages, an art show and plenty of participating restaurants.  It’s a nice excuse to legally hang out in the street in downtown Cleveland.  Check out my experience at  http://ohiofestivals.net/warehouse-district-street-festival-cleveland/
