My first festival at an RV park brought me to the beautiful Whispering Hills…

…where I drove up past a beautiful landscape…

…and parked at the main office pavilion for an Apple Dumpling Festival.

As an Amish couple busily cooked their kettle corn…

…I made my way into the pavilion…

…where vendors sold their Ceramic Creations

…paintings on a stone canvas…

…flowers in a stone planter…

…and some awesome skeletons made out of plastic gallon jugs.

Although there was a game room in the back and possibly some kids’ activities planned throughout the day…

…the main attraction was here in the kitchen…

…where there were tables, a TV…

…and plenty of homemade apple dumplings.

The dumplings were famous in these parts, perfected by Ruth Sauer’s 40 year old recipe…

…which was also top secret.

So with free coffee and water readily available…

…Max and I got a sloppy Joe and a cheeseburger to get our appetites going…

…and then purchased a warm apple dumpling a la mode to share.

Both delicious dumpling and apple were spooned through melting ice cream…

…and it was difficult to get a bite in without my 11 month old begging for more.

Needless to say, we should have gotten two.
